Flip n Twist Gymnastics Recreational Team
Flip n Twist Gymnastics Recreational Team Gymnastics is fun for your child! This program is designed to give you and your child a team experience without the cost and commitment of a competitive program. It will help them learn and grow as a gymnast.
WHAT IS RECREATIONAL TEAM GYMNASTICS?
Flip n Twist Gymnastics offers a wide variety of programs for children of all ages and abilities. Our Recreational Team program allows recreational gymnasts the opportunity to experience competitive gymnastics in a more relaxed atmosphere. One of the most important benefits of our program is the development of self-confidence. While the gymnast gains new skills and strength, she also enjoys team camaraderie and an understanding of how to work as a team as well as an individual. It also allows the gymnast to proudly display what she has learned to family and friends in a meet situation.
Who should join our Recreational team program?
This program is open to all recreational gymnasts in classroom Level 1 through Level 3. You may speak with your child’s coach for a recommended team level or sign up for an assessment at the front desk.
How are the teams decided?
Teams are based on skill ability. Each level constitutes a separate team. The Recreational Team is limited to 12 gymnasts per coach. Each team has a different leotard and spirit wear that sets them apart from the other classes and teams. Each level will learn a routine on vault, bars, beam, and floor.
What are the requirements?
The gymnast will be required to take at least one level class (only skills will be taught) and one routine class (skills and routines taught) per week. Each gymnast will be required to purchase a leotard, team t-shirt, shorts and a bag. These are sold together as a package. She will also attend 3 or 4 competitions during the year.
When and where are the competitions?
The Recreational Team runs year around, however, the competition season typically runs from November through April. Flip n Twist hosts 3 meets in the gym, and one meet away from the gym. The away meet takes place in March at our “Girl Power Invitational“. The competitions are held on Saturday afternoons and run about 2.5 hours. The athletes will be given ribbons at each event and an All Around medal at the end.
The Recreational Team may participate in exhibitions. They will have team outings and parties!
